Glycol Separation Filtration
Application
KD International provides a complete range of filtration solutions to optimize glycol separation and purification. Before regenerated “lean” glycol can be sent offshore to the wellhead, it must undergo a multi-stage purification process. This process removes dissolved contaminants, separates hydrocarbons, and filters fine solids to ensure system efficiency and prevent equipment fouling. Proper filtration minimizes foaming, scaling, and corrosion, ensuring reliable glycol system performance.
Problem
Contaminants in glycol can cause severe operational issues, reducing efficiency and increasing maintenance costs. Effective filtration is necessary to prevent these risks. Typical contaminants include:
- Carbonate Scale – CaCO₃, MgCO₃, formed from water ingress and temperature fluctuations
- Corrosion Byproducts – FeCO₃, FeS, Fe₃O₄, caused by pipeline oxidation and wear
- Fine Solids – Particles ranging from 1–10 µm, contributing to filter plugging
- Total Suspended Solids (TSS) – Levels of 100–200 ppm, leading to heat exchanger fouling
